Students with an interest in a surgical specialty may become corresponding members of the Department of Surgery. This status can be maintained after graduation and keeps members on a mailing list for departmental activities such as meetings, research opportunities, Distinguished Visiting Professor schedules and general USUHS information. Of 1,991 graduates (1980-1994) over 500 have expressed an interest in following a surgical specialty.
