Hi Everyone!
I hope that this message finds you well and that everyone enjoyed the sprinkle of snow last week - it was finally looking like winter around here!
First of all - please note the change of date for the meeting! We moved the meeting from a Wednesday to Thursday in order to accommodate our guest speaker.
I want to say THANK YOU to Chelsea Fields (Aerobics), Sara Keleher (Stroller Strides), and Eva Burns (Yoga) who led our group exercises at the Healthy Start meeting last month. It was a lot of fun, and I think we all agreed that if we did that together every week we would have a super ripped SSC :) Also, congratulations to Courtney Christensen on the launch of her new photography business!
Also - THANK YOU to Dana Beam, Eva Burns, Sara Keleher, Heather Dennis, Jennifer Spaulding, Alissa Hunsaker and Kelsey Hughes (sorry if I forgot someone!) for all of your hard work on Casino Night! The turnout was great, the games were fun and the food delicious. What a fun evening and a great team effort. I think that this has to become a regular SSC Event!
This month, we have two really important components of our business meeting: reviewing the Constitution & Bylaws that govern the SSC, and setting the budget for next year's expenditures. The officers and chairs are hard at work updating these documents so that we can present them to you at the meeting. We'll entertain all questions, and discuss the changes. Then, they will be voted on during the March meeting. If you can't make the meeting, a copy of both documents will be sent out with the meeting minutes - so be sure to watch for that.
After the business meeting, we'll have Officer Stroman talking to us about personal safety. She'll go over some best practices, and then answer any and all questions you may have. I for one am really looking forward to this talk (especially in light of some recent events that have affected our SSC family) and I think that we can all learn a lot!
Last, but not least.... Nominations night! The date is still TBD (stay tuned!), but this will be a social occasion where we will nominate people to run for the 2012-2013 SSC Administration. You can nominate yourself if there's a position that you want to run for, or if you think you know someone who would be perfect for a job, you can nominate them. If you can't make Nominations night, then you can email your nomination(s) to studentspousesclub@yahoo.com. Elections will take place at the March meeting. If you have any questions about what the different jobs entail, feel free to speak to me or any of the current officers. You can also read the current official position descriptions in the Constitution & Bylaws which you can view at http://www.usuhs.mil/ssc/pdf/ConstitutionandBylaws.pdf. I hope that lots of you consider running! Being part of the leadership of this club is rewarding, fun, and an overall great experience!
Looking forward to see you all on Thursday!
All the best, Molly
