Thursday’s
case-based interactive learning session at 1100 will provide an overview of
child development and practice in discussing developmental issues with parents.
The goals of this session are:
1.
To gain an understanding of the principles of child
development.
2.
To learn how to use some easily-accessed resources that outline developmental
milestones, behavioral questions, and ways to discuss development and behavior
with parents.
3.
To get an overview of appropriate referrals to pursue developmental
concerns.
4.
To practice discussing developmental issues with
parents.
In
preparation for this session, please spend 20-30 minutes exploring the Bright
Futures website, which outlines developmental milestones and school-related
developmental behaviors from birth through adolescence. This site also provides
suggested questions for discussing milestones and school behaviors with parents
