Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program

The Division of Education currently offers attendance-based CME programs, and is in the process of creating CME offerings available for distance applications, including Web-based opportunities. Other programs in development include future video-teleconferencing (VTC)-based conferences which will include the potential for interactive conferencing and distance consultation.
 
CME may also be offered through the Army and Navy for clinical and departmental educational events, separate from USU-sponsored events.
 
Course offerings and descriptions, accreditation statements, information regarding accessing the programs, information regarding the process for obtaining CME, and registration information, where applicable, are included in the individual course descriptions.
 


Gynecologic Minimal Invasive and Robotic Surgery and Hands-On Anatomic Dissection and Surgical Techniques

Course Description:
This course is designed to train the gynecologic surgeon (the participants) in pelvic anatomy, novel and traditional gynecological laparoscopic and pelvic floor reconstruction techniques as well as provide a basic introduction to robotic surgery. Surgically relevant anatomy will be reviewed in detail through hands-on dissections and prosections. The indications, anatomical considerations, complications, intra-operative and post- operative management of patients having these procedures will be discussed.
 
The participants will have hands-on training with these novel and traditional gynecological procedures and pelvic floor reconstruction procedures.
 
Both animate and fresh cadaver stations will be utilized with 2-3 participants and, at least, 1 faculty at each station. Exposure to robotic surgery will also be available on both the da Vinci Standard robotic platform Didactic sessions will combine discussion, PowerPoint presentation, operative and/or anatomical dissection photos and video, as appropriate.
