Operations of the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine is responsible for the operational, logistical, training, and administrative support of the Academic Support, Education and Applied Human Biology Divisions (Human Performance Laboratory and Casualty Care Research Center). Operations consists of members from each branch of the service with a variety/broad spectrum of qualifications such as instructors, logisticians, operation specialists, training managers, planners, and military subject matter expert advisors. In addition, the Operations staff performs as the USUHS Brigade Operations and Logistics (S-3/S-4).
 
Operations primary mission is the execution, support and management of all MEM Department exercises that require external tasking or military occupational skills (MOS) unique to military medicine. Operations personnel are responsible for applying current military leadership and doctrine and add realism to all training objectives. The officers and noncommissioned officers assigned provide soldier, sailor and airman training for USUHS, manage department operational activities and training, and provide subject matter experts in all areas of combat medic training; Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) in battlefield operations and military leadership. Operations provides Command and Control for the following operations: Operations Bushmaster and Kerkesner Field Training Exercises, the Antietam Road March and Military Medical Field Skills.
