Role overview
Participates in the executive leadership team of the Graduate School of Nursing
Provides leadership within and outside the School to assist/support the Dean with School operational and administrative supervision
Serves as the liaison between the Dean's office and the Federal Nursing Service Chiefs to assist with communication and coordination; coordinate initiatives related to the improvement of readiness/operational curriculum and clinical site availability for the education of students; and see that systems are in place (through program directors) for evaluation of clinical sites and preceptors for accreditation purposes

Role overview
Participates in the executive leadership team of the Graduate School of Nursing
Provides leadership in the masters & doctoral educational and research missions, including the multi-faceted areas of scholarship and research program development, externally funded grants, graduate curriculum, and faculty and student mentorship
Provides visionary and strategic direction for high quality research and scholarly activities

Role overview
Partners with billeted and non-billeted faculty, academic programs and administration to provide programs and resources to assist and promote faculty growth and accomplishment
Functions as a cross-boundary manager and consultant committed to monitoring, evaluating, developing and implementing educational and administrative programs to meet unique faculty and program requirements
Serves as personal advisor to the Dean and a liaison to the USU Faculty Senate and the GSN Leadership Council on all faculty-related issues

Role overview
Participates in the executive leadership team of the Graduate School of Nursing
Provides visionary and strategic direction for administrative and policy development to the Graduate School of Nursing
Serves as a liaison between the GSN and other organizations and agencies, including the School of Medicine (USUHS), administrative offices of USUHS, the ASD(HA) Point of Contact for the GSN, and the DOD Services' Medical Departments
Facilitates alignment of School administrative policies and procedures to maximize faculty effectiveness in teaching to the GSN signature curriculum and meeting the academic needs of the military and federal health system

Role overview
Participates in the executive leadership team of the Graduate School of Nursing
Fosters educational and professional development of all assigned students
Manages the administration of various student needs in cognitive and non-cognitive areas of growth
Administers the student conduct process; coordinates career development programs; and oversees the academic performance of each student
Supervises the quality of student life and represents the student body to the university administration

Academic Programs

There are five program directors/chairs within the Graduate School of Nursing including: Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science.

Each Chair/Program Director
Serves as faculty member and program director/chair in the GSN and is responsible for teaching, research, program policy and administrative assignments
Oversees the development, execution and evaluation of the curriculum
Coordinates all administrative responsibilities required by the program and ensures compliance with the educational standards and accreditation guidelines
Provides academic and administrative guidance for clinical site coordinators in selecting sites, development and maintenance of Memorandums of Understanding and Training Affiliation Agreements, selecting and educating preceptors, and placing students in appropriate clinical sites

COL Bruce Schoneboom, Ph.D., is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Navy Lieutenant Commander Pamela Wall, director of USU's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, recently spoke at a Joining Forces event held at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is working toward a Doctor of Philosophy.

"The Joining Forces initiative is important, because it provides America's nurses with the education, information and sensitivity they need to recognize and treat conditions that are unique to military and veteran populations," said Wall, who was hand-selected by the dean of Penn's nursing school to talk about her nurse corps experiences.

At the event, Wall also introduced first lady Michelle Obama, another Joining Forces guest speaker, who called nurses the "frontline of America's healthcare."
