USU Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate consists of 28 faculty members: 24 senators and four officers. Nine senators from clinical departments and nine from basic science departments represent the School of Medicine (SOM). Two senators represent the Graduate School of Nursing (GSN), two senators represent faculty not billeted to USU, and two senators represent the Post-Graduate Dental College (PGDC). Senators serve three-year terms and are expected to represent the common good of the university rather than individual constituencies. The senate officers are the President, the President-Elect, the immediate Past President, and the Secretary-Treasurer. Each of these officers serve a one-year term; a new President-Elect and a Secretary-Treasurer are elected each year. Senate elections are held each May, and terms of office begin in July.
