Flu Season
With the flu season upon us, we are pleased to present our updated Courage to Care, provider and patient fact sheets. They remind us that flu season is not just a time of routine vaccination, but offers 'teachable moments' for reinforcing important hygiene and health-related information. For military healthcare providers, the flu season can also provide patient-centered care opportunities to build new patient relationships and to reassure military families and children who may be experiencing the stressors of repeated deployment and/or its aftermath.
Healthcare providers play a significant role in medical intervention (disease surveillance, identification, and treatment) and in influencing patient behaviors for protecting individual, family, and public health. We encourage you to share the provider sheet with all of your office staff, Flu Season 2011: What Military Healthcare Providers Should Know, and to download the patient sheet, Caring for Your Family During Flu Season, which can help families sustain good health habits throughout the year.
As always, our Courage to Care team thanks you for taking the time to read this and for your dedication in caring for our nations servicemembers, their families and children. For more information, please visit us at http://www.cstsonline.org.
