Faculty

A USU graduate and his family celebrate in front of the Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall. The USU faculty is encouraged to participate in the 2012 Commencement exercise. Your involvement in this special event is an important extension of the academic process. It also signifies the weight of this incredible milestone for each member of this year's graduating class.

The 2012 Commencement exercise will take place on May 19. Free parking is provided for members of the faculty.

Faculty members participating in the processional will begin lining up in the C Street foyer at 10 a.m. The processional will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.

Civilian faculty members wear academic regalia in the procession. Attachment one is the group rate regalia rental order form for civilian faculty.

Uniformed faculty members participating in the processional wear their service dress uniforms with full military decorations (no medals) as follows: the Army's dress blues with four-in-hand tie; the Navy's service dress whites; the Air Force's service blues; and the Public Health Service's dress blues.

Individuals not renting regalia must fill out attachment two.

All faculty members participating in this year's Commencement must complete attachment one or two. Submit these forms to the Multidisciplinary Laboratory (MDL) no later than the dates indicated on the forms. Faculty members who miss the deadline for group rental ordering through MDL must obtain regalia on their own. Those missing the deadline must notify MDL of their intent to participate in the procession with attachment two.

Did You Know

The Uniformed Services University was strictly a School of Medicine when it opened its doors in 1976. Realizing the dire need for a uniquely trained cadre of advanced practice nurses, Congress chartered the Graduate School of Nursing seventeen years later. Today, both schools educate students to take on the challenges of uniformed medicine. With nearly 6,000 graduates, the USU alumni comprise a large percentage of medical and nurse corps leadership.
