Health Freedom Walk
 
The Health Freedom Walk is organized by the Montgomery County Recreation Department, African American Health Program, Betah Associates Incorporated and Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. It will occur on June 13 (Raindate: June 20) at the Rural Legacy Train in Sandy Spring, MD. The purpose of the walk is to encourage healthy lifestyles, community engagement and education about the Underground Railroad. The Rural Legacy Trail commemorates the involvement of the Montgomery County residents in the Underground Railroad and celebrates the Quaker heritage and traditions of Sandy Springs. This three-mile walk will retrace a route through the woods passing a hollow tree that was used as hiding places for freedom seekers. You will travel across a stream and pass a large bramble patch.
