Notes
- Street name — Wisconsin Avenue becomes Rockville Pike (Rt. 355) when traveling north from Jones Bridge Road.
- Parking — Due to limited on-base parking at Naval Support Activity Bethesda, attendees are encouraged to use public transportation (see links below to the Metro and shuttle-bus service to/from Medical Center Station). Parking on NSAB base is very limited and slots are not guaranteed. If you have special circumstances and wish to request parking information, please contact the symposium's Event Coordinator (e-mail or 301-295-2950).
- Metro — The Medical Center Metro Station (Red Line) is located across from the main gate of NSAB (aka: the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, WRNMMC). After arriving at Medical Center Station, take the escalator to the surface. To walk to USU, at the top of the escalator make a U-turn and walk 40 meters to the traffic light at Wisconsin Avenue. Cross at the light to enter the main gate of NSAB (South Drive). Present valid identification at the guard booth and proceed ahead. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the front gate to USU (see walking map, above; click map to view a printable PDF version).
- Base access — We will put your name on the access list for NSAB for March 27–29, 2012. Present a valid (unexpired) government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license) at the installation's main gate (across the street from the Medical Center Metro station on Wisconsin Avenue). For symposium attendees who are not U.S. citizens, you will be required to show your passport. If driving, your vehicle may be subject to a random search upon entry to NSAB.
- Shuttle buses — The on-base-only Red Line (South Campus) shuttle bus can be boarded at Building 10 (WRNMMC Hospital). One of its stops is USU Parking Garage W (aka, W-Lot), from which it is a short walk to the symposium location (Sanford Auditorium in Building B).
NOTE—Base shuttle service does not operate between 8:55 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Service resumes at 2:45 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m.
For reference, see the NSAB Shuttle & Building Map.
